Every year, the Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery offers a unique opportunity for people from countries with low immigration rates to the U.S.
Do you meet the requirements to apply? Here's what you need to know:
✅ Basic requirements to apply:
- Country of birth: You must have been born in a country that qualifies for the lottery. If you were not born in an eligible country, you can still qualify if your spouse or parents were born in a qualifying country.
Examples of Latin American countries that qualify:
Argentina
Chile
Uruguay
Paraguay
Honduras
Nicaragua
Countries like Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, and Mexico are not eligible at this time due to their high immigration rates to the U.S.
- Education or work experience: You must meet at least one of these criteria:
Education: You must have a high school diploma (or its equivalent), meaning you have successfully completed 12 years of primary and secondary education.
Work experience: You must have two years of work experience within the last five years in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
- Accurate application: Complete the electronic form without errors and make sure your photo meets the specific guidelines from the Department of State.
Up to 4 out of 10 applications are disqualified due to simple mistakes!
